Are your Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic Develop Presets missing?
Over the past few months, Adobe has changed the way that Develop Presets are stored inside of Lightroom Classic. For most Lightroom Classic users, these changes have been invisible and harmless. For many others though these updates to Lightroom Classic's Develop Preset storage system have caused a lot of problems.
If your Develop Presets have suddenly gone missing in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic then this troubleshooting video is for you!
One of the most common frustrations that I keep seeing applies to those who purchase Lightroom Classic Develop Presets from third-party websites. Many of the websites that sell, or share, Develop Presets have not kept up with the recent changes to Lightroom's underlying Develop Preset storage architecture.
To make matters worse, the internet is full of antiqued, and incorrect, Develop Preset installation instructions. It used to be that there was a folder called Develop Presets which is where this type of file needed to be stored.
With the latest changes though this is no longer the correct location for your .xmp Develop Preset files. Dragging and dropping custom Develop Presets into the legacy Develop Presets folder will not work anymore.
Fortunately, there is a much easier way now for most users to install third-party Develop Presets built into Lightroom Classic.
