It seems that pharmaceutical company Pfizer will be putting some of its legal woes behind it. The drug giant has agreed to pay a total of $60 million dollars to end the bribing case against it.
Pfizer has been accused of bribing officials in China, Bulgaria, and Russia to name a few. These bribes were aimed at getting preferential contracts for the company. Pfizer will pay $45 million to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission and $15 million to the Department of Justice.
After learning about some of its employees illegal actions, the drug company reported itself to the authorities. It is believed that these acts of bribery date back as far as 2001.
