The National Association of Home Builders conducted a large survey this month: What do Homebuyers want? Efficiency, Amenities, and Technology. The number one thing buyers want is Energy-star rated appliances. This was followed closely by energy efficiency in the laundry room. Permanently lowering utility bills is a highly desirable feature.
Of those polled, 62 percent favored high-quality products over space. Home buyers seem to prefer high-end amenities, even if it means living in a smaller home to get them.. bye bye McMansion.
Some of the other desired amenities toping their list? were double sinks in the kitchen, a tub and shower stall in the bath. The last thing buyers want: technology: everything from remotely controlled utilities, entertainment to security systems.
On the flip side, what DON'T homebuyers want? An elevator is the number one amenity consumers don't want, followed closely by wine refrigerators, golf course communities, and outdoor kitchens.
