Breaking news today, Former McDonald's (NYSE:MCD) CEO Fred Turner has died according to a company statement.
One of McDonald's founder Ray Kroc's first employees, Turner began with the company in 1956. He became president and chief administrative officer in 1968, then CEO in 1974, a position he held until 1997.
Turner was responsible for taking the world's biggest fast food company internationally and created a training program for managers and employees called McDonald's Hamburger University.
Turner died of complications from pneumonia and is survived by his three daughters. He was 80 years old.
