The formula to convert hours to minutes is minutes equals, the number of hours times 60. We multiply by 60 because there are 60 minutes in 1 hour.
As an example, if it takes 3 and a half hours to drive from one city to another, how many minutes is this?
3 and a half is 3.5, so using the formula, we have the number of minutes equals, 3.5 times 60, which calculates to 210 minutes.
As a more complex example, let’s say that the average wait time in line is 4 hours and 23 minutes, how many total minutes is this?
To answer this, we will use the formula to convert the hours to minutes and then add on the 23 minutes. So, we have, total number of minutes equals, 4 times 60, then plus 23. And doing the calculations, we get 240 plus 23, which gives us a total of 263 minutes.
