Transcript/notes
To check the spelling in an excel spreadsheet you start by left clicking on the review tab at the top of the spreadsheet. In the proofing section to the left you will see “abc checkmark spelling”, left click on this. Now a pop up box will appear asking do you want to continue checking at the beginning of the sheet? Left click on yes, and another pop up box will appear.
It will highlight the first cell where it found a potential misspelling in the spreadsheet, and in the pop up box it will give any spelling suggestions, as you see here with the word although.
There are a few options, such as you can ignore this suggestion once, at this specific cell, ignore this potential misspelling all throughout the spreadsheet, add it to the dictionary, change it at this specific cell to the suggested correction, which is what we want, so we will left click on change, and the correction has been made.
And one note on changing a spelling. Here is the sentence have a great day, but the word great is misspelled. In the pop up box, there are multiple suggestions, so, in this case we need to left click on the third suggestion to get the correct spelling for the word.
And one other note, if you want to just check the spelling of a single word, or single cell, left click on the cell, so it is highlighted, then under the review tab, left click on the spell check icon and that same pop up box will appear where you can go thru the process of doing the spell check.
