CDSS CUSTOM AUTOMATION -- AUTOMATED FERRULE PRESS
This is a video of a custom ferrule compressing machine that was built for a customer that uses the compressed ferrules in manufacturing antennas. Prior to CDSS building the machine in the video, the customer had an employee manually pressing thousands of ferrules a week with a kick press. Now that employee loads the machine with 500+ ferrules presses the start button and is free to do other productive work.
As you can see, the machine is fully automated. The operator pours ferrules into the vibratory bowl and presses the start button. The ferrules are fed up the vibratory bowl tracks, to a vertical magazine which then cycles the ferrules to a press and finally drops them into a bin. An optical sensor triggers the press cycle and the machine will switch off after a minute when the bowl runs dry. The cycle time is about 2.25 seconds per part so it crunches through them at a pretty good clip. The operator loads the machine, presses start and walks away.

Our in-house machine shop enables fast turnaround on repairs and service for our customer's vital production equipment.
