Day in the life section - 3:13

Yoobic - https://yoobic.com/

I know I talk a lot on this channel about how to become a developer, javascript projects for your portfolio, interviews and job hunting techniques, but something I have been lacking to talk about or show is what a day-to-day as a developer actually looks like.

I asked my managers, the marketing team and HR at work if I was allowed to film in the office for the day and they agreed. But before I get into the main section of the video, I’ll tell you about where it is I work.

This is from the company marketing material to explain what the company does:

YOOBIC is an In-Store Conversion Optimization platform that helps retailers and brands optimize their stores, operations, and teams to deliver an irresistible shopping experience that ultimately drives conversion up.

Based in New York, London, Paris, Tel Aviv and Sao Paulo with more than 150 employees, YOOBIC is used by 120+ brands & retailers across the world including Halfords, Lacoste, Kate Spade, Yankee Candle, Kiko Milano, Pixi Beauty, Logitech and Peugeot.

Put simply, we make apps that make people who work in retail life easier.

As for the technology that we use to make these apps, on the frontend, we’re an Angular app, using Stencil.js to build web components and then packaging it together with Cordova to build the apps for release to the iOS and Android app stores.

In the dev team we are currently 14 people which are split into 3 teams.

In my team we are currently refactoring the codebase and building new web components for the other 2 app teams to use to keep adding features and build out the solutions we offer to our customers.

So now you know where it is I work let's look at what I do. And before you say anything, I did film all the footage over a few days, hence the change in clothes and mug colours.

So that was an illustrative day of my day as a front end developer.

It’s basically a lot of time spent coding. Mainly we’ll work alone but occasionally we’ll pair up in the team and pair program. We tend to keep meetings to a minimum which is great.

And until next time, thanks for watching!
