Ukraine: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Thursday that Russia had started a counter-offensive in its western Kursk region, the area Kyiv launched a major incursion last month. Russia said its troops had recaptured 10 settlements in Kursk.
Poland: U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the United States will keep pressing Israel to do more to spare humanitarian sites in the Gaza Strip. An Israeli airstrike Wednesday on a U.N. school complex sheltering displaced Palestinians killed 14 people, including six U.N. staffers.
West Bank: Israel continued its military raids in Tulkarem in the occupied West Bank for a second day on Thursday. The Israeli military said it is working to dismantle militant groups and prevent increasing militant attacks on Israelis.
Turkey: The government said it has opened an investigation into the death of a Turkish-American activist believed to have been shot by Israeli troops during a protest in the occupied West Bank. The body of the woman, Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, 26, will arrive in Turkey on Friday.
Vietnam / Thailand: Millions of people across Southeast Asia struggled Thursday with flooded homes, power cuts and wrecked infrastructure after Typhoon Yagi swept through the region. In Vietnam, fatalities rose to 199, while another nine were confirmed dead in northern Thailand.
