Ukraine: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Thursday that Russia has started a counter-offensive in its western Kursk region, where Ukraine launched a major incursion last month. Russia said its troops have recaptured 10 settlements in Kursk.

Turkey: The government said it has opened an investigation into the death of a Turkish-American activist believed to have been shot by Israeli troops during a protest in the occupied West Bank. The body of the woman, Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, 26, will arrive in Turkey on Friday.
Four private astronauts aboard a SpaceX capsule in orbit on Thursday opened the hatch, and two crew members emerged into the vacuum of space for the first ever commercial spacewalk. They are the first private citizens to conduct such an excursion.
