How To Launch Multiple Copies of the Same App Like Blender, Photoshop, Etc on a Mac

In this video we are going to learn how to launch multiple instances of the same app like Blender, Photoshop, etc on MacOS.

By default some apps can only be opened or launched just once. There are multiple ways you can open an app either from the dock, applications menu, the launcher, spotlight and even from the terminal.

But all of this will only launch the app once. If you want to launch a separate copy, here is what you can do.

Open the terminal and type in open -n “/Applications/Blender.app”

So you can do this for any other app. If you want to run this again you need to manually type it in. Better way is to use Apple Script to create a script that you can launch.

do shell script "open -n /Applications/Blender.app"

Then save the script and export it as an application so you can launch it like a shortcut.
