World of Warships is a naval warfare-themed MMO arcade game produced by Cyprus-based developer and publisher Wargaming Group Ltd.

WoWS gameplay is team-based; players are in command of historical (from WWI to the end of the 1950s) warships picked from four available classes (destroyer, cruiser, battleship and aircraft carriers) and navies (Kriegsmarine, Imperial Japan Navy, Royal Navy, US Navy, Soviet Navy, Polish Navy, Republic of China Navy, People's Liberation Army Navy, French Navy, Regia Marina and Royal Australian Navy), and are pitted in two-team battles for domination of one or more spots on a given map. Each match ends with either the 100% capture by one team of all "cap" points, or the complete annihilation of the opposite team. A timer also forces the players to reach a decisive conclusion to their battle as swiftly as possible.

Players use their experience and financial rewards to unlock increasingly modern and powerful vessels, culminating with the end 1940s-1950s' Tier X (many of which are actually "paper designs", having never been built due to the end of the Second World War and/or the ineluctable obsolescence of the traditional battleship, due to the advent of missile-launching boats and the supremacy of carrier-based aviation).

This Random Battles match here displays my casual gameplay (I only play when I have the time to, and I'm not trying to become sort of stat-obsessed pro gamer) with the Tier X US battleship *USS Montana*. The Montana is the pinnacle of the American battleship family, the final evolution of nearly half a century of naval warfare: designed to challenge the Japanese Yamatos, the Montana-class vessels were fitted with large amounts of armor and four Mark 7 triple turrets. They were so massive they would have been unable to use the Panama Canal (their beam would have been too wide), a sacrifice the US Navy willingly made as the previous Iowa class lacked an amount of protection consistent with its displacement. Unfortunately, the Montana never saw light, as the Battles of the Coral Sea and Midway proved that the linchpin to victory in the Pacific resided in a higher number of aircraft carriers, not battleships (for that same reason, the Iowa class was reduced to four members instead of six). Nevertheless, had it been given the green light, the USS Montana would have been the largest and most powerful American battleship ever.

The Montana, thanks to its quadruple turret setup, holds tremendous broadside firepower (its 406mm AP shell deals as much damage as the Großer Kurfürst's 420mm, and a twelve-gun salvo will outweigh the Yamato's nine-shell volley) and, even without using HE, could easily delete a hapless destroyer spotted at medium or short range. Thanks to its Artillery Plotting Room Mod 2 (unique to US BBs) upgrade, it excels at long-range precision fire, boasts the highest speed of all battleships and one of the best AA suites at Tier X. It plays like a slightly slower, wider-turning, larger but punchier Iowa. With the lowering of its citadel, the Montana has become a fearsome beast, harder to kill at short and medium ranges unless at very specific angles. Its twelve guns, good precision/dispersion and tremendous antiair cover make it a potent game-changer.

Let me be honest: I was a bit miffed in my previous Montana video that I missed the opportunity to collect a Kraken medal and I knew I had to rectify that. However, dwindling premium time and a succession of other game events (the French battleship line and Gold of France campaign, among other things) meant I had to concentrate on other ships to make the most of it. So after a long Montana hiatus, I came back to my first Tier X ever and took her out for a spin. The start was a bit slow, but mid-match I started scoring citadels left and right, culminating into my much-awaited Montana Kraken. I was unfortunately unable to kill that kiting Khabarovsk, but I was able to survive and stay out of torpedo range, earning me quite the financial windfall. Along with the Des Moines, Alabama and Zao, the Montana easily ranks as one of my favorite vessel in World of Warships.

The footage was recorded with Windows 10's in-built Game DVR, since NVidia ShadowPlay was giving me trouble.
