The Photoshop Preferences can be found within the Photoshop menu on a Mac and the Edit menu on Windows. Within the General tab, turn off the "Auto show the Home Screen" option. Create any file and immediately close it. The Home Screen should now be disabled.
Within the upper left corner of the Photoshop interface is a Home icon. Pressing this button will temporarily display the Home Screen.
