Jesus wants you to build a strong durable life that cannot be overcome by the hard times in life He explains to us how to do that though. He says in Matthew 7 verse 24 "therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice "puts them into practice" they are like the wise man who builds his house on the rock". What was Jesus talking about? He was talking about foundations. He was saying to us that like a house is built upon a rock we can build our lives. if we hear his words and do them now a lot of people they hear the word of God and they ignore it they walk away from it but not you. you hear the word of God and you put it into practice and that is how you build your life upon a rock. Now we see that in our culture today there are so many deceptions going on about how to build a life.

I'll give you 3 faulty foundations (sand instead of rock) people build their lives on today.

The 1st one is pop culture. The person that builds his life on pop culture is the one that says "well most people are doing that surely it couldn't be that bad" Most people believe that is true. surely they needs to be some truth regarding that. So what they do is they find their direction and they find their truth
based on other people's perspective they take an inventory of what the community around them believes and thinks and then they will take their most popular belief and they will go with that. That is how people build their lives upon the sand (faulty foundation) because when hard times come they will drift away from God

The 2nd faulty foundation people build their lives upon is a very deceptive one. It's called tradition. the reason it's deceptive is because we feel so comfortable with the way we were raised the way we grew up. we feel so comfortable to just do what we seen our family do throughout our lives Then we read the Bible we see that is not how are we supposed to worship I see that the Bible tells us to worship in a different way We are supposed to believe what the Bible says and then what people do oftentimes is they say well I feel more comfortable with the way I was raised. Now Jesus said in Mark 7 verse 8 "you have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human tradition" that is how you can build your house upon sand (faulty foundation) and when the storms come your life will be washed away. but if you hear the words of Jesus and you practice them you'll build your house on a rock, a firm foundation.

The 3rd and the last faulty foundation I want to share with you is feelings, emotions Many people build their lives upon how they feel. especially today people determine what is truth based on how they feel no matter what the Word of God says. that is very dangerous. Your feelings and my feelings change all the time. How could it be part of our foundation you don't want to have a shifting, changing foundation we also know not only do our feelings constantly change but they sometimes lie to us We get to the other side of a situation and we realize that we didn't really feel the right way about that situation. We misunderstood something or we misunderstood someone our feelings started lying to us. did you know that your emotions cannot count? they only feel. They cannot think they only feel This is why so many people are in debt because they look at something that cannot afford but they will feel so strongly about having it they'll go and buy it anyway and they'll get themselves into trouble Oh! Our feelings when they lead us we have gotten ourselves into so much trouble we have gotten ourselves in so much sorrow and regret. So I've discovered there's one way, certain way of completely destroying a life and that is by trusting your feelings and questioning God's Word that is how you can destroy any life. but you can build a life on a strong firm foundation, upon the rock if you turn that around. If you say this If you say "from today on I'm going to question my feelings but I will always trust the Words of God". If you do that, you will build a life that is strong that is secure, that is durable and that cannot be overcome by the storms of life.
