There is a question that's been asked from generation to generation. A real pressing question which is Is there a Creator?
Why do people need to know this? Because if there is somebody who created us that means there is an authority that we will have to give an account to. This is why people go through mental gymnastics to try and disprove the fact that there's a creator. They will come up with the craziest theories call it science just to try and disprove there is a Creator.
However, I like how a Ray Comfort goes about it. Anybody comes to him with this question He says, if I point to a painting it proves what? That there is a Painter. If I point to a building that proves what? That there was a Builder. In the same way, when I point to the creation it proves what? That there is a Creator! Somebody came to me the other day and said Jacques, you have no proof of God.
I thought for a little bit. Then I said to him, "I see it a little differently". If there are two people. One person believes that there's a God. Another person believes that there is no God. The burden of proof does not rest upon the one that believes that there is a God. The burden of proof rests upon the one that says that there is no God. Why? Because if there is no God then both of us will be okay. But if there is a God, the one who served Him will be okay. The one who rejected Him all their lives will not. You know people like to get all heady about the subject but I saw this once. A person came with the whole idea that there is no proof of God. Therefore there is no God and they are very very confident about this idea. So I did this with somebody the other day. I drew a circle and I said to him that inside of the circle represents all knowledge there is to know. I gave him the marker and I said to him could you please color in the percentage of all knowledge there is to know color in the percentage of the knowledge that we have already discovered.
He took the marker and he put a little dot right in the middle of the circle admitting that of all knowledge there's to know we only have discovered to this point, a fraction! I said to him since you've admitted that we know so little of everything there is to know. You are so confident over the fact that there is no God? Where do you get your confidence from? You know folks, it is so important that we discover Truth. Why is Truth important? Because lies have consequences.
Biblical apologist Ravi Zechariah said it this way and I quote "The fact is the truth matters! Especially when you on the receiving end of a lie". Eternity is an awfully long time to be wrong. A guy said to me the other day "Well Jacques you know what? I'm going to take my chances. because I think I'll just deal with whatever the consequences are when I leave this world. If there is a God the one that I didn't serve I will face the consequences".
I said to him, it's so strange isn't it. You would not gamble with money the way you are gambling with your eternity. Now if there is a tugging at your heart You are saying, "Jacques I know that there is an eternity. And I believe that there is a God. I need to make right with Him. Where do I find Truth?". Jesus said in John 14 verse 6. "I am the Way, I am the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me". Do you know that the Bible is the only book where the author is in love with the readers. God loves you. He made a way for you to be right with Him. Of all world religions, Christianity is the only religion where God took initiative to come and qualify those He was saving. All other religions require their followers to qualify themselves with their religious leaders or their God. Not so with Christianity! God wants to qualify you in Christ.
