Make Ubuntu into LAMP Server - Free web server
This will show you how to install lamp server on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. These same steps will work on other versions of Ubuntu as well.
Lamp stands for Linux Apache MySQL PHP, so once this is installed you have your basic web server. So then you have a completely free web server :) So instead of paying for hosting you can use your own little Linux box to do the work and not have to pay those pesky web hosting companies.
