The extension mechanism is part of the backbone of FHIR, because of its so-called 80%-rule. As such extensions are likely to be used in each and every project.
This session covers simple and complex extensions of both FHIR resources and data types, the complexities of modifier extensions, and the process of defining entirely new FHIR resource types.
Rene also covers the sources where one can find the definition of existing extensions, and it familiarizes the attendees with some of the most commonly used extensions, as well as some statistics related to how extensions are used in production environments. At the end of the session, the attendees know how to use the extension mechanism as offered by FHIR.
