What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out the VIAIR automatic portable compressor. It's gonna be good for your bigger tires on your truck or even a class C motorhome. Let's check it out. VIAIR made this compressor with 30 foot of coiled up air hose so that you can hook it up to your battery and then air up each tire. Let's get right to using it.

So, we're gonna hook up to the battery first. Already popped the hood. We're gonna have our positive we're gonna attach first to the battery. Now, the clamps don't open that wide. That is one complaint about them.

They do have a good clasp though, so when you go to put it on there, it will stay attached. But it'd be nice if they were just a little bit bigger to go around the full terminals up front. We can still clip 'em on what we need to right there and then go back down the compressor. One of the nice things about this is you have the eight feet of power cable here that go from the jumper cables up to the battery down to the compressor. You see how it's not pulled super tight or anything.

I can set this down here without worrying about it being like this if the cord is pulled tight or just all that tension on ripping those cables off the battery. Now, we're gonna hook up our air hose. They have quick thick connectors so you just push out on the outside. That's gonna unlock the inside, push it over the valve, let go and see, and it's attached. Now, we're gonna attach our inflater gun.

Gonna do the same thing with that quick connection. Push down on the outside, push it down in there, let go, clicks into place and you know it's locked in. We've been set up right here next to this tire. You can clearly reach that one but I wanna go towards the back tire just to see how much of the air hose it actually uses. It gets a little tight there but not too bad. Still can hook up to the valve just fine. Now, if we wanted to go on the driver's side, we would have to pick up the compressor and move it to the driver's side. They have a latch style to attach it to the air hose so just push down on that. That locks it in place on the air valve so it's not gonna thread on like some of the other VIAIRs. It's all right though 'cause then it makes it pretty quick to just throw that down and know that it's attached. Now, before you use the compressor, you are gonna wanna start your engine and your vehicle. That way, the battery's getting charged. You don't accidentally drain it all by using the compressor without the vehicle started. So, get it turned on (car engine roaring) and then check out the compressor. Gonna hit the power switch to turn on the compressor. It's gonna run for just a little bit enough to fill up this tank on the inside and then stop. That's one of the nice things. That doesn't mean it consistently runs while you turn it on. (compressor whirring) You see it's shut off there. That means the tank inside's full and it'll come back on when I use that air with the gun and the tire. Now, if I held the trigger down and I overshoot it and fill up too much, there's a button here on the side to let some air out. So, a little bit over 60. I wanna get it closer to what I want so I'm gonna hit the button here. We'll bleed out some of that air. It doesn't take very long so just quick pushes. Just like the trigger when I was inflating the tire, it probably would've gone faster if I just held it down but I wanna make sure I got as accurate as I could. Another thing I really like about it is the rubber pads on the bottom. That not only keeps it from moving around a whole bunch, it really keeps the noise down so when I turn on here, I can still talk over it. It's not super loud. It doesn't travel on. You don't have to worry about it coming unclipped or anything. I really like how quiet that is. Now, we're finished on the passenger side. I can walk it over to the driver's side and set it down. That foam handle makes it really easy. Just pick it up and move it. Also have replaceable air filter here on the side so just unscrew this all the way, take it apart, and it's gonna come with a couple of different ones. You can replace those out when you need to. Some details about the compressor is it's gonna pull 12 volts. It's gonna have a max amperage of 23 amps. It's gonna have a max working pressure of 150 psi. We talked about that before when looking at the gauge. It's gonna have a max duty cycle of 100% at 100 psi and it's gonna have a flow rate of 1.80 c
