Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Westlake ST205/75R14 radial trailer tire in a load range D and it's mounted on this 14-inch gun metal gray Osprey aluminum wheel with a five on 4 1/2-inch bolt pattern. Now this tire-and-wheel assembly is ideal for RVs, campers, and trailers. The wheel itself is an aluminum wheel. It's very durable, lightweight, and rust-proof.
And we mentioned it's the Osprey series, which you can see has a split five-spoke design, has a gun metal gray finish on it, and if you look at the face of the spokes, they do a machined face on the spokes and the lip of the wheel is also machined. They give a nice shine to the wheel. They do use an automotive-grade clear coat finish on the front to protect the wheel from scuffs and scratches. Now one of the nice features I like on this wheel is they use the steel inserts in the lug nut wells, and those are designed to help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer hub. Basically when you put this up on the hub over the studs, put your lugs on, torque 'em down, those steel inserts prevent the holes from wearing down or elongating, so it eliminates the need for constant retightening of your lug nuts.
Few dimensions on this wheel, the diameter, it's 14 inches. The width on just the wheel is five inches wide. Bolt pattern on this wheel is five on 4 1/2 inches. And if you want to measure that on the wheel that's an odd number of lugs, like in this case, five, what you'll need to do is pick any one of the holes, let's say this one, and then you're gonna measure across to either one of these holes directly across from it. But what you want when you measure it, you wanna measure from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of whichever hole you go to.
So on this one, it'll measure at 4 1/2 inches. So that means this has a five on 4 1/2-inch bolt pattern. The wheel lug size this uses is 1/2 inch by 20. Weight capacity is 2,200 pounds. Now if you notice, this wheel does not have a center cap.
If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately on our website. You do wanna make sure to get a center cap that'll have the same diameter as this pilot hole right here because when you install your cap, it will go through this hole. The diameter of the pilot hole is 3.19 inches. Now the tire on this, it's a Westlake radial tire. It is constructed with double steel belts, double polyester plies, and then they use a nylon tread-firming belt overlay around it to help prevent tread separation. And it is a radial ply tire, so it is great for highway use. This tire is also an ST rated tire, which means a special trailer tire, has the sturdy sidewalls so that it can handle heavy loads, and which means it's created specific for trailers. It's not intended for use on other vehicles. Now the tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall, right here, you can see ST for special trailer, 205/75R14. The R means that it's a radial tire. Section width on this is eight inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 26.1 inches. Now the tire capacity on this, it's a load range D, which means it's an eight-ply rated tire, so it has a maximum load capacity of 2,040 pounds at 65 PSI. Now this assembly does meet the DOT specifications, and I do wanna mention this also comes with a speed rating, and the speed rating is always stamped on the sidewall by letter designation. And where that's at is right after the size we went over, you'll see two numbers for the load index, and then the letter L. Speed rating L will mean that it's a 75-mile-per-hour speed rating. Now they also give complimentary roadside assistance for two years, and they offer flat tire service, which is available 24/7 anywhere in the US, Canada, or Puerto Rico. But that's gonna do it for a look at the Westlake ST205/75R14 radial trailer tire in a load range D on this 14-inch gunmetal gray Osprey aluminum wheel with a five on 4 1/2-inch bolt pattern.
