The drunk driver coming out unscathed while a family of four are burning to death
Fate can be a cruel and unforgiving mistress, not that I’m going to learn some lesson about my drunk driving because of all this. Something about drunkness can stop people from tensing up in some instances which can act as a way to lessen injuries for some complicated medical reasons that don’t always really work, adrenaline is a hell of a drug anyways. There is some actual merit to the idea that drunk drivers can walk away from the accidents they cause with other vehicles more than the occupants of see other vehicles, but it’s pretty low down on the list of factors. Drunks more often hit things by themselves and get themselves killed.
The humor here is in making light of an awful and very made up situation. It all comes together nicely.
