Today on our 2013 Infinity JX35 we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 76031. With this hitch I like the clean look that it maintains, but it gives you very good usability and functionality. It gives a pretty nice, clean look and the face of the receiver tube opening here is nice and flush with the rearmost part of the bumper, so it doesn't protrude out but it does come out far enough that it's going to give you plenty of clearance for any of your hitch mounted accessories. Here it's got the 2 inch by 2 inch receiver tube opening with nice reinforcement collar welded to the outside here. It's got 2 pin holes, it's got the standard 5/8 inch hitch pin hole that's going to be used to secure all your accessories. Then the smaller 1/2 inch hole which is there for use with a J pin stabilization system. Got the steel plate that's welded on the underside in order to make the safety chain connection point.

It's got nice large openings to make sure that just about whatever size safety chain you may have, you should be able to get it hooked up there without a problem. It also features this little bracket that's welded onto the cross frame. That's there to mount up any wiring that you may have like 4 pole or 7 way RV. It's there so you have easy access to it whenever you need it, because it's outside the vehicle on the hitch. This hitch features a 900 pound max tongue weight rating, and that's both with and without weight distribution system. Then it features a 6,000 pound gross trailer weight, again with and without weight distribution system. Now let's give you some measurements to help assist you with your selection of hitch mounted accessories such as ball mounts, bike racks, or cargo carriers.

The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost part of the rear bumper is 2 1/2 inches, and the distance from the top inside edge of the receiver tube opening to the ground is about 14 and 1/4 inches. Now we'll show you how to install this hitch. First thing we're going to need to do to begin our installation is we're going to need to remove this factory tow hook. It's going to have 4 bolts; 2 here on the underside of the frame and 2 up on the side that we're going to have to remove. They're all going to be an 18 millimeter head. Now I'm going to release this exhaust hanger just to let this hang down a little bit more so it'll be easier to get access to all of our holes.

You don't have to, but I'm just doing this to make it a little bit easier. In order to get that off of there you can use a pry bar or a pair of channel lock pliers if you don't have an exhaust hanger tool. See there we've got a little bit more movement now. Now inside each of the weld nuts that are up here, there's 3 on each side that we'll be attaching to. We've got a little bit of rust and grime built up in there. I'm going to put a little bit of that lubricant up in there, and I'm going to use a tube brush to help clean that up and just work a little bit of that rust off the surface.

If you want to pick one of those up you can get that on our site, part number 814092. I'm going to do that for all the holes. Now with an extra set of hands we can raise our hitch up into place. Line it up with the weld nuts, and then in one of them install one of our 12 millimeter bolts. On each of these, the way that we've got these washers set up is we've got the bolt with lock washer, and then flat washer on each of them. Then we can go through and get the rest of our hardware started. Then with all our hardware started we can take a 3/4 inch socket and begin to tighten them up. Before you do that you do want to make sure that that hitch is nice and centered on the vehicle. Now we can go back through and torque down our hardware to the specification listed in the instructions. Now with the hitch torqued down we can reinstall our exhaust hanger. That's going to complete our look at and installation of the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 76031 on our 2013 Infinity JX35.
