hiiii !! sanctacaris time.
these dudes had a length ranging from 4.6 to 9.3 cm (1.8 to 3.6 in), and i just get a cuteness overload when thinking about them and the rest of the cambrian animals,, like it's so cute to think how this weird alien lifeforms could have fit in your hand,, i want to pet one so bad T__T
they were carnivores and good swimmers, and the little crawly things on their face are called "raptorial branches" and it's thought they served to actively grab prey items, while the antennae-like branches would have been used to sense the environment.
it's name comes from the Latin words "sanctus" which means “holy, or saint,” (referring to Santa from the field name “Santa Claws”) and "caris" which means “shrimp or crab”. and this means two things:
1) this guy is a HOLY SHRIMP, and that's hilarious.
2) it wasn't intentional, but releasing the track for this critter on christmas time is a cool coincidence lol.
anyway, since i'm finished with my uni year and also am on work holidays, i will have more time to put on making these. i think this project is turning out pretty cool and i'm and incredibly thankful for all the love and support i've been getting lately :]
i hope u like these critters as much as i do, and the track and drawing too.
see ya soon, love ya💚🌌🐚
