hiiii nectocaris time !!!
they reached lengths up to 7.2 cm (2.8 in) and their name comes from the ancient greek words “nekton”, meaning "swimmer", and “karis”, meaning "shrimp”.
so yeah, this critter is called "swimming shrimp".

the thing with these guys is that there’s some controversy regading what they actually are, because some scientists have suggested that they represent the earliest known cephalopods (a class of moluscs that has squids, octopus, nautilus, etc.), but others say that their morphology is quite unlike already confirmed early cephalopods, so they reject their connection to them or even the broader group of molluscs.

the lack of fossil evidence and their unusual anatomy makes it hard to determine what they were… cambrian animals being cambrian animals, as usual.

also, that thing under the base of their head and between the two tentacles is a flexible funnel. it’s function is not confirmed but some have been suggested:
it could’ve been used to feed themselves, to breath, or to eject water to propulse themselves (similar to how modern cephalopods move).
i like that last one honestly :]

anyway, about the art thing and everything… this is the last cambrian track of the album !!
this has been an awesome journey. i enjoyed so much working on it, and learned a lot about these animals in the process :D

now i’m on a little vacation, but as soon as i go back i'm gonna start working on many things to ensure the album release goes smoothly. like for example changing and adding details in each track, mixing and mastering (i’m terrible at that), and also i made a little booklet that i want to include with the digital release !! (and perhaps the physical one if i’m lucky.. let me dream)

so yeah that’s it for now !! i don’t want to make promises as to when the album is gonna get released, but we’re close.

see ya soon 💚🌌🫧
