...It was a short little two nighter in California but it was my first time going alone and I was so excited but also so nervous.
October 2023 in Thailand started my first experience with solo international travel. I ended up traveling with friends I had met for the majority of the trip but it was my first glimpse into what that world was like.
November 2023 I flew back to the states, moved back into an empty van, and that was the first time I was truly living and traveling in it by myself. I had spent a few weeks in it alone in the years prior, but moving back into it alone was entirely different.
The trip that I’m currently on is the first time I’ve been completely by myself for an extended amount of time internationally…
So honestly, I still go through phases where I feel new to all this solo stuff…
As I’ve said before, fake it till ya make it is really my go to with solo travel 🫡
When I was officially living in the van by myself, I immediately listened to the book WILD by Cheryl Strayed (as many of you recommended I do, thank you ☺️). So now I am recommending it you you if you find yourself in a similar situation or just want more courage to go do some traveling solo! I found the read very empowering and would even like to do a similar solo backcountry trip in the future.
