The 5 month solo trip I’m currently on is the longest bit I’ve done by myself…
95% of my previous travels were with my former partner so I’ve been learning a LOT this time around. These are just a few things that have helped me and hopefully gives a little inspo to go out and go for the trip :)

I did take Spanish lessons in high school but uhh.. "donde esta la biblioteca?" doesn't get you too far in Peru (emoji). I’m using Rosetta Stone so I can increase my Spanish knowledge and navigate Central and South America with more confidence. Navigating transportation, ordering food, and communicating with accommodations in Spanish are a few of my goals!
@rosettastone has been my go to language learning app for the last few years and I love how practical and immersive it is. The app uses visual, audio, and native pronunciation features you help you speak and retain a new language as if it was your first. I am more of a visual learner, so having the pictures and matching sections really helps me connect what I’m hearing to what I’m learning. The lessons are divided into topics so you can pick where you want to start if you already have some basics down. Since I have the basics of Spanish, I’ve been doing lessons from the “Travel” category. They’re easy to do on the go and can be done in as little as 10 minutes!
For my current trip in Japan I had fun checking out the basic lessons in Japanese to get some simple greetings down! For those the pronunciation tool was especially nice because those can be quite tricky!
