I can fit everything into my 40L backpack + 3L sling bag but I did pack a second backpack. My 30L Ultimate Direction Fastpack is my hiking bag, but I also use it on inter country travel days (busses/ferries/trains). It’s easier to pack more snacks and have easy access to my ipad and such if the big bag goes in the luggage area.
My goal is always to have my 40L as a carry on and I am able to get that to work on most airlines. It’s overweight for budget airlines and I’ve learned it’s unavoidable with the camera and work gear that I carry around. Maybe I’ll eventually figure out how to get the work gear lightened up. I pretty much just try to finesse it or I pay the fee and avoid flying when possible.
I make exceptions to my onebag rule when outdoor gear is involved (snowboarding, mountaineering, climbing). I’ve started looking into mountaineering trips for Nepal and South America and getting all the proper gear and clothing into one carryon would be quite the challenge 😅
So what would I have packed differently for this trip??
• brought a lighter fleece sweatshirt vs the heavy grey cotton one I brought
• brought lighter more versatile hiking pants (the ones I have are kinda bulky)
Items I run out of and have to re-buy during travels:
• body moisturizer
• face oil
• body soap
• sunscreen
• bug spray (bought it here, have used it 2x in the last 3 months)
My packing list always has room for improvements and I know I bring items that aren’t fully considered to be minimalist! The full list of everything I brought for my current 5 month trip is on my reel that I posted on Feb 27. I have another packing video back on Sept 27 for when I went to Thailand (planned to be gone for 3 weeks on that trip, ended up being gone 2 months).
ALSO - the clothes that I bring for trips does vary slightly depending on which countries I plan to go to.
I have a full length YouTube video that also goes into more depth on what I brought and why :)
#solofemaletraveler #packwithme #onebagtravelbut you have videos where you’re carrying around two backpacks…. right?? 👇🏼
