Today on our 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe, we're going to be installing the tow-ready vehicle wiring harness for factory tow package vehicles with a full pull flat trailer connector, part number 118269. Now we're going to go ahead and begin here underneath the vehicle. We're over underneath the drivers side of the vehicle and we're going to point out the two locations we'll be connecting our wiring harness to. It's right here and right here. Now, we'll first need to remove the plugs that are already in the connectors on the vehicle. Now in order to remove the cap, we'll need to push in on the locking tab here and gently pull outward.
There's the locking tab. Now for this other plug, we'll pull in on the locking tab, pull outward. Right, here's the locking tab on this cap. Now that we have both of our factory plugs removed, we're ready to install our new tow-ready wiring harness. Now, here's what our new wiring harness looks like.
Here's our two connectors that match up with the factory connectors. We'll go ahead and install both of them, making sure that the locking tabs are engaged. So it will look like that. Next we'll go ahead and take our wiring. We'll route it over here to the center of the vehicle.
Next, we're going to go ahead and take a little bit of rubbing alcohol on a paper towel, clean the backside of the box, as well as clean up here on the back side of the bumper structure, so that our two sided tape will stick to it. We'll then go ahead and put our two-sided tape on the back side of our box here, and then go ahead and peel the back off of the back of the two-sided tape, and secure the box here to the back side of the bumper structure. Next we'll go ahead and use a couple zip ties to help secure any excess or loose wiring. Go ahead and trim off any excess zip tie. Next, we're going to go ahead and take a little bit of electrical tape, and we're going to wrap, probably six to eight inches here on the end of the four flat wiring, just to give it a little bit more protection.
Then we can use a few zip ties to secure up any excess four flat wiring. We'll go ahead and trim up any excess zip tie. Next we're ready to go ahead and test our wiring to make sure that everything's working just fine. We're going to go ahead and take our test light and make sure our four flat wiring is working properly. We'll connect the ground on the test light to the white wire on the four flat. We'll then turn the running light circuit on and touch the brown wire. For our left turn, we'll touch the yellow wire. Right turn, we'll touch the green wire, and for the brakes, we'll touch both the green and the yellow. As you can see here, all of our functions are working just fine. Now when we're not using the four flat wiring, we'll simply loop it through the safety chain loop, put the dust cover back on it, and it's in the stored position. Now if you choose, you can also put the rear facia piece back on the vehicle as well. That will do it for the installation of the tow-ready T1 vehicle wiring harness for vehicles with a factory tow package, part number 118269 on our 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. .
