With the introduction of Windows Server 2012 come the ability to add and remove the GUI from Windows Server. This means that you can now turn a Windows Server Core installation into a full Windows Server with Graphical User Interface and you can turn a normal Windows Server installation into a Server Core installation.

You can easily uninstall the graphical user interface either in server manager or you can remove the feature using powershell.
