Storyline :-
Emperor Sultan Iltames is known for his fairness, compassion, and sense of justice. He takes swift action when he comes to know that his very son has violated the peace, and broken the law, and has him severely and publicly whipped, incurring his wife's displeasure. The apple of Sultan's eye is his daughter, Razia, and he would like her to succeed him as Emperor. This decision raises a hue and cry against the emperor, as many are opposed to a woman ruling over them. Razia proves herself to the people by showing herself as much caring, compassionate, and dedicated as her dad, earning the respect of all, and she is accepted as the first ever female emperor of the land. After her succession, the court officials start to gossip about her personal life, and her affair with a Yakut Jamaluddin. The problem is that Yakut is a dark-skinned man, who was the emperor's slave at one time, but set free and inducted in the army. Razia must now chose between her crown and her love for Yakut. Kamal Amrohi and his Film Raziya Sultan..
When Kamaal Amrohi wanted to research about this film, he found the book about Raziia Sultan. in measium in Paris, France, This film took 8 years to complete. After Pakeezah Kamal Amrohi started this film and also he was the producer of this film, Amitabh Bachchan to play Dharmendra's role and Kabir Bedi"s, Vijendra's role. Then A.K.Mishra became the producer of the film and the shooting started with Dharmendra.

When questioned about the film's inaccuracy Kamal Amorhi stated that he was not making a documentary. He felt there was no accurate information on Razia Sultan and every filmmakers would have his own versio and questioned about the film being a flop, Amrohi stated that every classic be it Mughal E Azam, Pakeezah,Sholay were termed flops. The critics could not digest Razia Sultan because it did not have the usual masala. He stated the film was running house full all over India and the middle east.

Everyone was shocked Kamal Amrohi signed Dharmendra for the film. Dharmendra was involved with Kamal Amrohi's wife Meena Kumari and there were stories of Dharmendra telling her to leave Amrohi. Kamal Amrohi stated he never held Dharmendra responsible for for any of Meena Kumari's actions. What Meena did was her choice, plus it was Meena Kumari who pursued a much married Dharmendra. He stated that he signed Dharmendra because only Dharmendra had a good command over the Urdu language and had a tough physique.

Before Razia Sultan, Kamaal Amrohi had launched Majnoon with Rajesh Khanna and Rakhee and two songs were recorded by Khaiyam. Rajesh khanna was producing the film and film had big lavished mahurat. But Majnoon was shelved and Kamaal Amrohi made Razia Sultan then.
