Microsoft Power BI uses Power Query (M-language) for data connectivity and data preparation. We have developed a first party Power Query for FHIR. The data schemas and data shaping functionality have been generated directly from the FHIR specification and the connector supports multiple FHIR versions (DSTU2, STU3, R4). In this tutorial, we demonstrate how to use the connector to build FHIR dashboards in Power BI. We also discuss how the connector was built and include an introduction to Power Query folding and specific challenges and solutions for FHIR.
