Padavala kootu or Snake gourd curry...special dish served on thali
Snake gourd peeled n cut into small pieces
Onion big 2 nos chopped
Tomato 3 nos
Garlic 6 nos
Ginger 1"pc
Green chilli 3
Coriander leaf handful
Cardamom 3
Clove 2
Cinnamon stick 1
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder 1,1/2 tsp
Coriander powder 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Coconut grated 1/2 cup
Chana dal 1/2 cup soaked for 3 hours
Preparation
1. Grind onion( 1,1/2), tomato 2 with garlic, gingern green chilli,spice mix n coriander leaves
2. Into a pressure cooker add sunflower oil, splutter mustard seed and aa curry leaves
3. Saute for 3 min on medium flame
4. Add masala mix
4. Add ground green masala to this
5. Cook on high flame until the raw smell go away
6. Add snake gourd n channa dal
7.Add enough water n salt
8. Pressure cook for 3 whistles on medium flame
9. Open cooker check if dal soft
10. Mix well n serve
