The last few years have taught me a lot about friendships and going through a divorce reminded me just how important these relationships are.
It was really important for me to find people that I could hang out with and not feel drained when the interaction was over. In addition to that, I started to realize that I relied on alcohol for many years to make friends. I started asking myself the question, were these people really my friends or were we just drinking buddies? Finding friends to go hike, climb and adventure with seemed intimidating at first but has been so so rewarding. And on the other side of that, having friends who don’t do any of those activities add a different sort of value to my life and are just as important ☺️
Making friends as an adult can be hard. To be honest I’ve met the majority of people in the last few years via Instagram or mutual friends, which feels like I’ve gotten so lucky. Friendships on the road have such a different dynamic as well. You meet a complete stranger and next thing you know you’ve spent everyday together for the last 4 weeks. Essentially roadlife roomies 🫶🏼 and a pretty good way to figure out if you get along with someone lol
Anyways feeling super thankful for the people who have been in my life for 10+ years and the ones I’ve just recently met 💗
