In this unit, we’ll explore the last century of the early Middle Ages up to the year 1000 CE. We’ll see the resurgence of the Byzantine Empire under Basil II and the expansion of its borders. In the Islamic world, we’ll see the fragmentation of the Abbasid Empire with the rise of new powerful regional dynasties such the Fatimids in North Africa and the Buyids in Persia. In the west, we’ll witness the end of the Carolingian Empire, the first steps toward the unification of England under Alfred the Great and the rise of the Norse, better known as the Vikings, who will expand across Europe transforming the Western World. In the east, the Norse will assimilate into Slavic culture and give rise to Kyivan Rus - the ancestor of modern-day Ukraine, Russia and Belarus.

It's a great introduction to the Middle Ages and very easy to read with lots of great maps, pictures and primary sources.
For those who are interested (I am often asked by teachers), the microphone that I use to record my videos is the Blue Yeti USB microphone.

It's on the pricier side but a great investment. If you are serious about having great sound for your lectures, it is worth every penny.
