This week we will be complete our exploration of the High Middle Ages (Module 3). The thirteenth century would witness many changes including the rise of universities, the spread of gothic architecture and an explosion of new literature written in French and English. At the beginning of the century, the Fourth Lateran Council and Magna Carta would transform both both the Church and secular governments. We'll see changes to medieval marriage and the practice of Christianity in Europe. We'll also see new religious movements including the introduction of the mendicant orders and the spread of heretical movements.

It's a great introduction to the Middle Ages and very easy to read with lots of great maps, pictures and primary sources.
