Geekbench measures your CPU on single core performance and multi core performance in the following categories:

After all categories have been run, an overall score for single core and multi core will be calculated. The benefit of Geekbench result browser is that you can see how individual categories are affected, after let's say an overclocking procedure. Also, you can see how your CPU ranks against other CPUs - of the same make and model and even different ones.
