At the center of the mag drive design is the magnetic coupling. Two assemblies contain an equal number of magnets with alternating poles. The inner assembly connects to the pump shaft while the outer assembly connects to the motor. The attraction of the opposing polarities align the two assemblies and enables the rotation of the rotor shaft assembly. This in turn creates flow.
A containment shell fits around the inner magnet - hermetically sealing the pump - keeping both liquids and vapor inside the pump.
Viking Pump offers cast iron, steel, and stainless-steel construction.
Port options include right angle or opposite ports with NPT or flanged options.
The one piece cast bracket provides a rigid foundation that is dimensionally interchangeable with other Universal Product Line pumps - allowing users to upgrade to Viking Pump's Mag Drive products without piping changes.
The robust design includes two-points of shaft support to better support both radial and thrust loads. And product is protected from thermal degradation through a positive cooling flow path, which also cools the magnet area.
8124A, 8123A, and 8127A Series™ pumps have capacities up to 500 gallons per minute, pressure capabilities up to 200 PSI, can handle viscosities between 28 and 250,000 SSU, and temperatures between negative 120 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.
These series can also be operated in either direction of rotation and flow - allowing for flexibility if needs change.
These pumps come a range of sizes and flow rates - to match process needs. Consult your local distributor or Viking Pump's Application Engineering team to determine the ideal pump for your process.
Common applications for these series include petrochemicals, isocyanates, polyols, resin, adhesives, and biofuels.
Due to the sealless design, the universal mag drive product requires the minimum amount of maintenance. When the pump is operated within recommended limits, these series will run for years at a time.
Viking Pump's 8124A, 8123A, and 8127A Series™ mag drive pumps are the ideal solution for the most hazardous and difficult to seal liquids - bringing the best in reliability - and requiring the lowest level of maintenance. To learn more please visit our website at vikingpump.com
