From the moment we pick fresh, ripe figs from the trees to when we cook them gently over a fire, we'll capture all the sweet and delicious details of this process.

*How to Make Fig Syrup Over a Fire:*

Start by picking ripe and sweet figs from the trees. It's best to use fully ripe and sweet figs to get a delicious and thick syrup.

Wash the figs thoroughly to remove any dust and impurities.

In a large pot, mix the figs with water and place it over the fire. Let the mixture come to a boil and simmer for about an hour until the figs soften. Then, remove it from the fire and let it cool down. Strain the mixture to obtain pure fig juice. Now, bring the pure juice back to a boil until it thickens. Be sure to remove any foam that forms on the surface during cooking.

Once the syrup reaches the desired thickness, pour it into sterilized jars and store it in the refrigerator.

Your homemade fig syrup is ready! You can use it as a natural sweetener for breakfast, desserts, cakes, or even on pancakes and waffles.
