This video is all about the GRA Moissanite ring scam circulating online that involves receiving a package despite not having ordered the product. In my research, everything I gathered about this GRA Moissanite ring scam pointed to the likelihood of what's known as a brushing scam. I first noticed users searching online for this ring scam in early September 2024. A quick online search led me to Reddit posts, including to one from more than two years ago. In other words, the GRA Moissanite ring scam is a long-running scheme.

One Reddit user posted in October 2022 of the GRA Moissanite ring scam, "So it appears as if we got a ring from 'GRA Moissante,' but no one in our house ordered it. Weirdest thing was that whoever sent this literally got our address and name right. I tried to search up the website, but it was an insecure link, and [the] website had many typos. It was shipped with USPS." This user described what's known as a brushing scam. The United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) defines a brushing scam as follows: "A person receives packages or parcels containing various sorts of items which were not ordered or requested by the recipient." The USPIS also described the goal behind such scams, apparently including the GRA Moissanite ring scam, "The intention is to give the impression that the recipient is a verified buyer who has written positive online reviews of the merchandise, meaning: they write a fake review in your name. These fake reviews help to fraudulently boost or inflate the products’ ratings and sales numbers, which they hope results in an increase of actual sales in the long-run. Since the merchandise is usually cheap and low-cost to ship, the scammers perceive this as a profitable pay-off."

Another Reddit user also posted of the GRA Moissanite ring scam in November 2023, "I got this ring recently but I didn't order it. This is a 'brushing' scam. Is there a way to report this somewhere?" The answer to that person's question is yes. It might be good to file a fraud report with the FTC and also the USPIS.

According to what I could tell on the GRA Moissanite ring scam's website, "GRA" stood for "Gemological Research Academy," as in, "CCMOISSANITE GLOBAL GEMOLOGICAL RESEARCH ACADEMY." The website also mentioned the mailing address, "RM18S 27/F HO KING COMM CTR 2-16 FAYUEN ST MONGKOK KL."

Basically, if you receive a package related to this scam, do not pay any money or give any personal information away. Simply contact the FTC and USPIS to file reports. You can do so simply by searching Google for FTC report fraud and USPIS report fraud.
