How To trim layers in Adobe After Effects CC 2018 - it's actually pretty easy to do, just click on the layer, move the playhead where you want to trim the in-point and then hit alt/option + [

To trim the out point just move the playhead and hit alt/option + ]

This also works for multiple layers, just select multiple layers and hit the shortcut.
