Happy Khmer New Year 2567 from Hanuman Travel
Our Khmer ancestors cultivate Sangkran or Chaul Chnam (New Year) to mark the ending of the harvest season. This allows the farmers to enjoy the long break before the monsoon begins again, which marks the start of a new cycle of rice cultivation. This is when all Cambodians throughout the country celebrate in different shapes and forms but the nation is united in observing the tradition.
It is an opportunity of gratitude, gratefulness, forgiveness and blessing. The farmers pay homage to the spirits that they believe to have given land fecundity and prosperity throughout the year. Cambodians across the country attend the pagoda to make food offerings to reconnect with their ancestors. It is also an opportunity to do good deeds for those who are in need.
