Hanuman Films was selected by AFD and the Ministry of Tourism to produce their tourism promotional film for 2021 on theme of the Cambodian cuisine. Filming stunning locations, organic ingredients, traditional recipes and iconic venues all over the country, the ‘Taste Cambodia’ video showcases the best of Khmer gastronomy. It will help to promote the unique food culture of Cambodia which is all too often under the shadow of its larger neighbors Thailand and Vietnam.
For the Northeast Cambodia short film, our team worked with leading actress Ma Rynet and popular Siem Reap tour guide Sinath Pheat as our talent. The journey included a stay at Jahoo Gibbon Camp in the Seima Protected Forest, a visit to Elephant Valley Project, the MDK Coffee Plantation and the peaceful Mekong island of Koh Trong.
Food highlights included Bunong pork and eggplant stew cooked in bamboo, grilled chicken in honey cooked in a Bunong home, grilled Mekong catfish salad rolls, pomelo salad with shrimp and 'kralanh' or sticky rice in bamboo.
Thanks to everyone who helped make this shoot possible, including Kyle Winney and team at Jahoo Gibbon Camp and Jemma Bullock and team at Elephant Valley Project, plus Tola Khoun in Kratie. Also thanks to Route 76 Guesthouse in Sen Monorom and Le Tonle Guesthouse in Kratie for providing such a great base for the shoot.
