Kia is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with the announcement of all-wheel drive and GT variants for its EV3 sport utility vehicle. The EV3 is part of Kia's strategy to offer more affordable electric vehicles, aiming to compete with industry leaders.
Unveiled during Kia’s first annual Electric Vehicle Day last October, the EV3 has already generated significant interest. In South Korea, orders opened this summer, with a starting price of approximately thirty thousand seven hundred dollars. The model quickly gained momentum, accumulating over ten thousand reservations in just twenty-three days. With incentives, buyers in Korea can purchase the EV3 for under thirty thousand dollars.
Kia’s Vice President, Jeong Won-Jeong, called the EV3 a “game changer” in the market. The company recently launched the vehicle in the United Kingdom, with prices starting at forty-two thousand three hundred dollars, making it Kia’s most affordable electric vehicle there.
Built on Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV3 offers an impressive range, reaching up to three hundred seventy-two miles under Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure standards. Its advanced eighty-one point three kilowatt-hour battery provides twenty-two percent more energy density than the Niro EV. With the EV3, Kia is setting the stage for continued growth, joining the EV6 and EV9 in its push to capture more market share.
