During a recent visit to Crested Butte, Colorado, my family experienced homemade ice cream and donut bliss at the Third Bowl Homemade Ice Cream shop. Since Crested Butte is a mountain biker’s paradise, a wonderful painting of a bike with fat donut tires was on display. The whimsy and creativity of the painting inspired me to play around with this concept. I wound up creating an animation of a “donut bike” zipping down the creamy swirls of a soft-serve ice cream cone. Then, I took the concept one step further and turned it into a promo for a fictitious bike shop called Baker’s Dozen Bikes that sells donuts and ice cream (my dream shop). The “donut bike” and most prominent soft-serve ice cream cone are Cinema 4D creations because I required true 3D objects in order to animate the bike racing around the ice cream. The delicious background treats are spinnable 2D objects that I found on the oh-so-amazing PixelSquid site.
