Red Mountain is located in Măneciu commune, Prahova, and is part of the Ciucaș Massif. It is a tourist destination appreciated for its spectacular landscapes and diversified flora, being included in the Ciucaș Mountains Natural Park.

The area is characterized by a varied topography, with mountain peaks, alpine meadows and coniferous forests. The approximate altitude of the Red Mountain is 1,765 meters, and the approximate altitude of the Red Mountain Hut is approximately 1,286 meters.
The Red Mountain is famous for the mountain peony (Rhododendron kotschyi), a protected plant that blooms spectacularly in the summer months. The vegetation includes forests of spruce, beech and fir, and the local fauna is diverse, with mammal species such as the brown bear, wolf and lynx, and various birds of prey.
Wild peonies growing over a large area turn the mountain "red", hence the name.
