Gamemaker 2.3 Update (more goodies to come)

This short video shows you the newest update on Gamemaker Studio 2 and some of its really appreciated features.

So what is new?

The first change is not a fundamental one but changes how you can organize your resources. So the asset tree is being replaced by a more flexible system which is called asset browser. The main difference is that here that you can organize your assets now how you want it. Before you had only a static structure but now you can make your own folders and organize all your assets the way you wanted. An example would be a folder only for things that are needed for the players. So here you put in the sprites, scripts, sounds and other assets that are being used for only the player. Another small change is that you can colorize all your assets which enhance the visibility. To find your resources you have now the option to tag your assets to find your resources more efficiently.

The biggest and most powerful update is that you are getting an inculded animation software inside GameMaker Studio 2. How does it look like? If you are familiar with other animation/video edition software you will feel at home. This system is based on a timeline where you set keyframes to animate whatever you wish. Practically, this can be used for cutscenes, animating a logo or other cosmetic things in your game. This is by far the best update YoYo did for their ide.

A small side note: This is still in beta and only a handful can use it. Therefore if you want to check it out yourself before its offical release you need to apply for the seperate software.
