There are plenty of reasons that got me started with programming. And those same reasons might have applied to you when you started coding yourself. The world of programming is very exciting and challenging at the same time, but if I had to come up with a few reasons why you shouldn't learn how to code, what would they be?

First of all let's say that I am for learning how to code, if you want to kickstart your career in tech or a complete career change, programming is open to everyone, it can be learnt at any age by anyone willing to put in the time and effort. However, there are a few drawbacks that need to be considered when embarking into the programming journey.

Harsh truth alert: Programming is not for everybody. Although, it can be learnt by anyone, the actual activity of sitting at a desk, working on an office and staring at a monitor for basically the entire day, might not be the best solution for many people. Coding is physically challenging and if you don't have that kind of attitude of sitting through the day trying to solve problems and debug stuff, you are going to have a very hard time.

Another reason not to learn how to code is if you are approaching programming nowadays you will find an extremely chaotic mess of languages, libraries, frameworks and meta-frameworks and the list goes on.
It is not at all easy to wrap your head around what continuously happens in the tech sphere. New technologies, new languages or paradigms. And also a harmless and, once, simple language such as JavaScript can become a nightmare with all the different standards, syntax, ES this, ES that. Libraries to do everything just popping out of the ground like flowers.

Unfortunately, this trend is not going to stop, nor slow down, if anything is going to get worse, like a lot worse. New things are always ready to come out and if you are the type of person who wants to learn something and that's it, that's good for life, then programming is definitely not for you.

In programming, you gotta be willing to keep learning and up-to-date with whatever new technology comes out, and the willingness to confront, analyse and solve complex problems that can always be different.

If this excites you and describe how you feel and imagine your dream job scenario, then welcome on board, I think you will find what you look for in the programming world. On the other hand, if you don't like anything you just read, you'd be better off with doing something else other than programming, and you wanna know something? It is fine. As long as you like what you do and enjoy it fully, then bless you, I wish you good luck.

That's all but don't forget to subscribe and also follow me on my social media, let's build this community one brick at a time shall we?

I'll see you at the next one,

Ciao
