Fading individual clips can be pretty time consuming but there is a way to fade all the clips at once. You do this by using the default transition.

To set this up, first go the "Effects"-window and search for a transition you want to use. I recommend "Cross Dissolve". Right click on the effect and click "Set as default transition".

Now, go up to the menu, click Premiere Pro, Preferences and timeline. Here you can change the length of the default transitions, for video and audio, either in seconds or frames. I usually keep my audio transition pretty short.

Now when everything is set up, just select all the clips and click "cmd + D" to add the default transition to all video clips.

To add the audio transition, hold down "cmd" and then click and drag over all the audio clips to select all the cut points.
Then click "shift + cmd + D" to add the default audio transition to all the audio clips.
