Hello folks! Today I will show you the restoration of a massive cleaver. This cleaver is forged by hand (I realized this during the restoration process). I do not know how old that object is, the main task is to restore it. Well, let's start the restoration.
First, I dismantled the old handle and steel rivets. Next, I cleaned the cleaver with of a rust remover. Further, for deeper cleaning, I used a sandblasting machine.
The next step is the correction of the cutting edge and the shape as a whole. After grinding, I brewed all the holes and dents on the cleaver. Sanded again and began the normalization of steel by heating 2-3 times. Further hardening and tempering of the blade at a temperature of ~ 180 degrees for two hours.
Then I manually sanded the cleaver and applied beautiful ornaments in the form of flowers to the surface and etched in a solution of nitric acid.
I made the handle out of walnut, steel and brass. I used brass pins.
As usual, I did a test for sharpness, strength and cooked a delicious dinner. If you are hungry, don't watch this video))
