Cognitive impairment and dementia have become a growing worldwide health concern as our population ages. Is there anything that can be done to decrease your risk? A new study suggests you might eat nuts. In a study published in The Journal of Nutrition, researchers had almost 80 adults eat mixed tree nuts for 4 weeks. The adults showed improvements in cognitive function, specifically on a picture recognition task, after 4 weeks of eating nuts. They also had higher levels of a type of gut bacteria that improves gut health.
