Approximately eighty per cent of people will have back pain at some stage of their life. From astronauts to elite athletes, back pain doesn’t discriminate.

In most cases, back and neck pain can be treated without serious medical intervention, and it is rarely a sign of something more serious. If your pain does not ease, you may need to see a health professional.

Presenter:

Julie Hides is Professor in Physiotherapy at the School of Health Sciences and Social Work at Griffith University, and the Clinical Director of the Mater Health Services Back Research Clinic, in Brisbane, Queensland. She is a titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and a Fellow of the Australian College of Physiotherapists. Julie has a special interest in low back pain, therapeutic exercise and imaging, and has worked with elite athletes and astronauts to help understand and treat their back pain.
